As we leave the stables, we enter the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate for a safari like no other. There is no loud sound of an engine, only the clip-clop of horse’s hooves, as we search for animals while winding our way through the African bush.
The estate is home to giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, waterbuck, sable, nyala, impala, kudu, steenbok, duiker, warthog and leopard to name a few, however, the chances of seeing all of these can never be guaranteed but it’s the anticipation of what’s around the next corner that makes the bush so exciting.
The trail follows a riverine course, which contains two dams (the second dam can only be reached on the 2-hour trails), where one can hope to see a variety of game quenching their thirst. Whether you’re a bird watcher, animal lover or just here for the ride, a horseback trail is the perfect way to experience the bush in its most natural form.
The 2-hour trail is best suited for riders with more experience. For riders with little to no experience and children, please select a 1-hour horseback trail.
A gate entry code is required to enter the estate. This will be provided once the booking has been confirmed.

Fabulous trail, excellent guide. Great Giraffe sightings. Super horses. Well organised. Very Professional. I wholeheartedly recommend! - Richard
Horses in good condition. Ride great but overall when saw wildlife felt was bit rushed as wanted to look at them and have time to actually take some photos would of been nice. - Danielle
We had such an incredible experience at Dream Horse Safari in Hoedspruit. Amazing to get up close to the giraffe and other wildlife on horse back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique bush experience. - Tarryn
Amazing! Incredible horses and esuestrian guide ? - Dorothee
My brother, his girlfriend and I overall really enjoyed our safari. Booking was simple, though we didn't receive the promised gate code to be allowed into the estate, and arrived late after having to ring through from the gate. We were greeted warmly and introduced to our horses. We saw a mix of animals, the highlight being able to get close to a group of 10 giraffe. Jess was very friendly. Our only criticism would be that after a 1 minute "crash course" at the beginning for Ross and Erinn who had never ridden before, there was a lack of further instruction/help for them during the ride. Erinn was given a horse who didn't like other horses behind her so ended up at the back, which meant I couldn't go behind her to help her either. Also the horses constantly pulling to eat got irritating after a while. I had fun having not ridden for years, but I think they felt they were left to it a little bit. - Kirsty
